Startup atmosphere

Many people, customers and employees alike, consider VME Retail to have a startup atmosphere.

We're all enthusiastic about what we're building, and enjoy seeing our products make a real difference to our customers.

Our management structure is relatively flat, so there's no office politics to worry about you experience in many larger companies.

Job Security

90% of startups fail, so while the atmosphere can be fun the long term job security chances aren't great.

We're lucky that we've been trading for 28 years, with long term reliable customers and recurring revenue. Our office is like a startup, but without the job risk.

Working from Home

Certain roles allow for working from home, up to 2 days a week if you prefer. Some of our employees prefer to work in the office, but others love the freedom of being able to work from home for some of the week.

Holidays

All employees are entitled to a minimum of 29 days leave, and it can be higher depending on your role. This number increases for all employees the longer you've worked with us.

You're not forced to take bank holidays - if you prefer you can work them and then take an extended leave using the days later. Perhaps a road trip? Although please don't do as these girls did and take your hands off the steering wheel for a selfie. They might want to consider driving on the correct side of the road as well. While we're at it....back seat driving never ends well.

Workplace Pension

The company is introducing a workplace pension in August 2016, which the company contributes to.

Annual Team Building Weekend Abroad

Once a year all employees are invited to an all expenses paid trip abroad for an extended weekend.

A chance for some down time, to get to know your colleagues better and brain storm ideas for the future of the company together. Everyone's input is welcome!

Last year we visited Tenerife, and the year before was Benalmedena, Spain.

Training

Certain roles allow you to go on training courses paid for by the company. For example,VME pays for our software engineers training to become Microsoft certified.

BBQs

Yes, its not a mistake. During the summer months you'll often find our staff enjoying a bbq lunch outside whilst soaking up the sun. Its company policy to maximise exposure to the sun when it happens*
